$2.6B GLOBAL ENGINE MANUFACTURER · ROCKY MOUNT, NC
Senior Financial Analyst (FP&A / Fixed Assets)
A major engine plant in Rocky Mount, NC — the flagship of its parent's manufacturing network, running roughly $2.6B in yearly sales — is in the middle of an ~$800M capital build-out and is creating a Senior Financial Analyst seat to anchor the finance function behind that capital and operational work.
The Overview
This employer is a worldwide leader in engineering and building diesel and alternative-fuel engines, with customers spanning commercial trucking, construction, agriculture, and defense across the globe. Its Rocky Mount facility is the crown jewel of the parent company's engine division — the biggest site in the network whether you measure by footprint (well over a million square feet), by output volume, or by revenue (about $2.6B a year). A capital investment in the neighborhood of $800M is currently in motion, and the plant is right in the thick of a major operational and financial transformation.
The Role
This Senior Financial Analyst seat is brand new, designed from scratch to anchor the finance work behind the plant's capital and operational spending. The core of the job is owning the full fixed asset lifecycle end to end — capitalizing CIP/SIP projects at the front, then handling depreciation, transfers, adjustments, and eventual disposals. On top of the asset accounting, there's substantial FP&A scope: you'll partner with roughly seven to nine department leaders spanning operations, quality, safety, and HR to build forecasts, walk through financial outcomes, and hold the line on performance variances.
Don't mistake this for a heads-down reporting job. Whoever takes it is expected to bring finance out onto the plant floor — questioning assumptions, standing up fresh processes, and coaching operational managers to reason in financial terms, since many of them haven't historically worked closely with finance.
In Our Words
For years the plant's finance group has mostly kept to itself — a tight crew where people stick around and loyalty is real. That steadiness is a true strength, and you can feel it in the culture. Still, the sheer size of the investment now happening calls for tighter financial rigor, and leadership is intentionally recruiting outside talent to supply the fresh viewpoint and drive needed to build it. If you've been putting in serious work inside a tough manufacturing setting and you're hungry for wider scope, this seat hands you real influence at an unusually large site — plus a direct line to a controller who is actively rewiring how finance runs across the whole plant.
The Hiring Manager
The plant controller is relatively new to the position, arriving from a high-speed, get-it-done culture where owning the numbers wasn't optional. She's straightforward, prolific, and says what she thinks — the kind of leader who sets a high bar and holds it. She's assembling a team that mirrors her: folks who take ownership, move toward problems rather than away, and don't require hand-holding. And she's a real mentor when the fit is right — earn her confidence and you'll have a senior champion pulling for your growth.
The Culture
Across the Rocky Mount site the wider company culture leans collaborative and supportive — people describe it as family-like, with a gentle, consensus-driven style employees clearly appreciate. A large share of the finance staff has spent their whole careers with the company, and that low turnover speaks to how content people are. For an outside hire, that longevity works two ways: there's real willingness to hear new ideas, balanced by a cultural default that prizes patience and building relationships over moving fast for its own sake.
Systems & ERP
Oracle serves as the main financial platform here. Hands-on time with Oracle's fixed asset module is preferred and will carry real weight in the selection process. That said, candidates with equivalent fixed-asset experience on another large ERP will still get a look.
The Benefits
A formal relocation package is included with this position. The Rocky Mount region comes with a cost of living well below big-metro levels, solid schools, and easy access to the North Carolina coast.
The Location
Rocky Mount, North Carolina — a smaller, community-minded city in the eastern part of the state. It's historic and affordable, and sits within an easy drive of the Research Triangle and the Outer Banks. Anyone moving from an expensive metro will notice a meaningful cost-of-living gain.
