Standard cost ownership across two high-speed film lines at a global packaging leader.
The Overview
Amcor is one of the largest packaging companies in the world — $13B in revenue, 200+ plants — and their Oshkosh flexible films operation is a flagship site. They're adding a Senior Cost Accountant to own standard costing across two high-speed extrusion and converting lines.
The Role
You own the standards: annual cost roll-ups, new-product costing with engineering, monthly variance analysis (material, labor, and overhead), and inventory valuation across a plant that turns fast. You'll partner with the Plant Controller on the forecast and get direct exposure to divisional finance leadership — this role is the site's costing authority.
In Our Words
This is the classic step-up role we recommend to strong cost accountants who feel capped: senior title, full ownership of the costing function, and a Controller boss who was promoted out of this exact seat. The plant is investing — two line upgrades in the last eighteen months — so the costing work is live, not maintenance mode.
The Hiring Manager
The Plant Controller is an operator's finance guy — walks the floor every morning, knows the machine operators by name. He told us plainly: he wants someone curious enough to go see why a variance happened, not just report that it did. He's a developer of people and this seat is the bench for his own succession.
Your Team
No direct reports — this is a senior individual contributor role inside a four-person plant finance team. You'll mentor a staff accountant informally.
The Culture
Wisconsin manufacturing at its best: low-ego, high-tenure, deeply practical. The finance team sits in the plant, not a separate office building.
Systems & ERP
Oracle Cloud for the ERP with Hyperion for consolidation. Strong Excel is assumed; Power Query skills will make you a hero.
Travel & Remote
On-site four days with Friday flexibility once you're up to speed. Travel is minimal — a divisional finance meeting or two per year in Chicago.
The Benefits
Amcor funds CMA/CPA continuing education and has a formal finance career-path program — the internal mobility here is real, with 200+ plants to grow into. Comprehensive medical, 6% 401(k) match, 10% annual bonus target.
The Location
Oshkosh sits on Lake Winnebago — lake life in the summer, a real downtown, Green Bay and Milwaukee within easy reach, and a cost of living that makes a $100k salary feel like $150k elsewhere.
