The Overview

Owens Corning is seeking a Plant Controller for their Jackson, TN plant. This site is highly automated with great technology — a feeder plant providing material for several internal Owens Corning plants. Because of that, it's considered a strategic plant running 2 lines of 24/7 production with 220 non-union employees. This plant is one of the leading plants in terms of their TPM certifications (Total Production Maintenance — a form of LEAN manufacturing), and is considered the gem of the division. You won't be walking into a fire, but you will still have the good challenge of driving process improvement. Because of the success of the plant and its importance to providing material to other divisions, this role is considered to be very stable.

The Role

The Plant Controller provides financial leadership to the plant and will be a business partner to the operations team to drive improvement and help the plant meet their goals. This is a hands-on role requiring the successful candidate to work at both the detailed task level and higher management support level. Owens is looking for more than an accountant — they want a business partner who can help the operations team make decisions, drive profitability, and help make sure the plant manager knows what is going on by identifying areas of concern. Key responsibilities include: • Serving as the business partner for the Plant Leader and plant leadership team for all aspects of the full financial context of the plant's activities • Managing all processes linked to financial planning & analysis, as well as supply chain and procurement • Maintaining a controls environment that complies with the Company's internal control policies and Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) • Leading the plant's financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting processes • Leading the plant's monthly closing process and communicating results effectively and timely to plant management and the segment Finance Leader • Providing in-depth analysis on variances to plan and forecast, as well as risk analysis for contingency planning • Leading actions in line with TPM thinking and methodology to achieve targets, mitigate risks, and prioritize resource needs • Providing investment analysis and assisting in contract evaluation and negotiation • Leading non-financial plant administrative processes for sourcing, materials/production planning, warehouse operations, and security • Strongly supporting Safety, Health, and Environmental Standards for an injury-free work environment • Leading and developing a team of 5, and acting as a resource to non-financial leaders by providing education and training on key principles of Finance

You will manage a team of 5 including a Financial Analyst, a Buyer, a Receiving Coordinator, and a Production Supervisor.
