SALARY RANGE
$90k–$115k
Take full ownership of the books at a growing defense-electronics plant in the $80M range, run the function solo without a local team beside you, and set yourself up for a Plant Controller role.
The Overview
This is a publicly traded, long-established aerospace and defense producer with a wide range of engineered products and services. Its Tulsa operation — roughly $80M in annual revenue and a workforce of around 200 — builds circuit boards and electronic systems for aerospace and defense clients. The location is on an upward trajectory, and its finance backbone is scaling right alongside it.
The Role
As the Cost Accountant III, you'll be the go-to — and at present the only — accounting presence physically at the Tulsa site. Don't treat that as a minor detail; it's what makes this job what it is. Regular duties cover monthly Gross Profit reporting alongside General Ledger review; managing EAC (Estimates at Completion) and running costing cycles; recognizing revenue under both ASC 606 and ASC 605; reconciling intercompany balances; writing financial variance narratives for plant leadership; keeping fixed-asset and capital-spend records; running inventory cycle counts plus yearly physical inventories; calculating and monitoring indirect rates; assisting with internal and external audits spanning SOX, customer, and government reviews; contributing to annual budgeting and analysis for site leaders; and eventually mentoring or leading staff as the plant grows. The rest of the accounting group works remotely from a location in Missouri. You'll partner with them while running the Tulsa books on your own.
In Our Words
What this position asks is clear: take charge of the accounting at a growing defense-electronics plant in the $80M range, work without a local team surrounding you, and grow toward a Plant Controller seat. For anyone who has spent years craving broader scope and thinner red tape, it's built exactly for that. The company is mid-transition from its legacy WDS system to Epicor Kinetic — meaning you won't step into something frozen in place; you'll help shape what's next. The advancement path here is deliberate and real. The hiring leader isn't after a career Cost Accountant — she's after the person who becomes her next Plant Controller.
The Hiring Manager
The hiring leader has responsibility for both the Tulsa and Missouri sites. She's straightforward, holds a high bar, and is truly committed to grooming this hire into the Plant Controller position. What she wants is someone who takes ownership without needing step-by-step direction — and who brings answers rather than just flagging issues. She characterizes the setting as "work hard, play hard": expectations run high, and the tempo keeps up with how fast the site is expanding.
The Culture
Expect high accountability, quick movement, and a growth focus. With the Tulsa plant expanding, the person in this chair is meant to expand along with it. Self-directed people who value ownership over being managed closely will do well. Anyone who relies on constant check-ins or a nearby team for everyday backup won't be a fit.
Systems & ERP
The site runs on WDS today, with a migration to Epicor Kinetic already in motion. You'll need strong Excel skills. Familiarity with SQL Server databases is a plus and well worth calling out on your resume.
Travel & Remote
Fully on-site in Tulsa. Rare trips to the Missouri location may come up now and then.
