Lead finance at a $2.2B publicly traded manufacturer of engineered structural connectors — a company so deeply committed to its people that the Finance Director role is where careers go to finish, with a genuine path to VP of North American Finance.
The Overview
Simpson Strong-Tie, a leader in engineered structural connectors for the building industry, is looking for a Finance Director to lead their branch/plant in Stockton, CA. SST (NYSE: SSD) has $2.2B in revenue, approximately 5,000 employees, and has been in business since 1956. They maintain a reputation as a trusted manufacturer committed to their customers and employees, built around founder Barc Simpson's 9 Principles of Business.
The Role
SST recently upgraded this role to a Director level, removing daily accounting activity and looking for a more strategic finance partner. You will be the finance business partner to the management team and share responsibility for the successful realization of the branch's growth and operational goals. The Finance Director collaborates with Branch and North America senior leadership teams to develop, execute, and monitor strategic initiatives to drive profitable growth. Responsibilities include branch forecasting, budgeting, strategic analytics, financial reporting, and leading the local accounting team.
In Our Words
The ideal person is both analytical and strategic — able to oversee expansion projects, software implementation, and road-mapping projects, carry an executive presence, and concisely present the state of the plant to the executive team. SST is a big company that feels small. You have the freedom to be yourself and be passionate about your work. This is the kind of place you retire at.
The Hiring Manager
The current person in the role is retiring at the end of the year. While seeking a detail-oriented person, they don't want an overly detailed accountant as much as a dynamic business mind that can communicate the business needs and its solutions.
Systems & ERP
SST runs SAP.
